●  Core services

Everything you expect from a pharmacy, done properly.

Chains optimise for throughput. We optimise for whether your medication actually works — which means synchronising your refills, packing them so they are impossible to muddle, delivering them free, and picking up the phone when something changes.

●  Flagship service

Medication synchronisation & multi-dose blister packing.

If you or someone you care for takes more than three medications, the hardest part is not getting them — it is taking them correctly, every day, for years. Med sync fixes the logistics. We align every prescription to a single monthly fill date, review the whole list before we pack it, and deliver it in one go.

Your medication then arrives in multi-dose blister packs: sealed cards sorted by day and by time of day, each dose labelled with the drug name, strength and when to take it. No seven sorting trays on the kitchen table, no wondering whether Tuesday evening got taken.

  • One date, one delivery — every refill lands together, so nothing runs out mid-month
  • Sorted by day and dose time — morning, midday, evening and bedtime, clearly marked
  • A pharmacist reviews the full list before packing, catching duplicates and interactions
  • We chase the refills and the doctor — you are not the one leaving voicemails
  • Ideal for caregivers managing a parent’s medication from another town

This is the same system we use for facility and group-home accounts, offered to households. If you are coordinating care for an older parent, our guide to senior wellness around Summit Plaza is a good place to start.

●  Included with every prescription

Free same-day delivery, no minimum order.

Delivery is not an upsell here and it is not a subscription. If we fill it, we will bring it to you — anywhere in Jersey City and the surrounding Hudson County towns, the same day, at no cost, with no minimum order value.

That matters most on the days it is hardest to get out: after a hospital discharge, during a flare, in February, or when you are managing a parent’s medication from across town. It is also what makes med sync and blister packing work — one pack, one delivery, once a month.

  • No minimum order and no delivery fee, on every prescription we fill
  • Same-day across Jersey City, including Journal Square, The Heights, Downtown, Greenville and Bergen-Lafayette
  • Hand-delivered by the pharmacy, not dropped with a third-party courier
  • Ask us to call ahead if someone needs to be home to receive it
  • Over-the-counter items can ride along with your prescription

Call (201) 266-0901 to confirm today’s cut-off time for same-day delivery to your address.

●  Immunizations

Walk-in vaccines — and travel shots Jersey City can actually get.

Every vaccine is administered by a certified pharmacist during pharmacy hours. No appointment needed for routine immunizations, and most are covered by insurance — including Medicare Part B/D and NJ FamilyCare.

Routine immunizations

  • Seasonal influenza
  • COVID-19
  • Pneumococcal (pneumonia)
  • Shingles (Zoster)
  • RSV
  • Tdap, Td and hepatitis series

Not sure what you are due for? Check the CDC immunization schedules or ask a pharmacist to review your record with you.

Travel vaccines & travel health

Jersey City travels — to Egypt, India, the Philippines, the Caribbean, West Africa and back again. Travel immunization is the service independents can offer properly and chains rarely do: an actual conversation about where you are going, for how long, and what you need before you fly.

  • Destination-based vaccine review
  • Typhoid, hepatitis A and B, and other travel immunizations
  • Malaria and travellers’ diarrhoea prophylaxis counselling
  • Timing plans for multi-dose series before departure
  • Documentation for your records

Check requirements for your destination on CDC Travelers’ Health, then call us — some series need to start 4–6 weeks before you fly.

●  No doctor’s appointment needed

Birth control, prescribed by your pharmacist.

Since 2024, New Jersey pharmacists have been able to prescribe and dispense self-administered hormonal contraception directly — no doctor’s visit, no referral, no waiting weeks for an appointment. It is done under a statewide standing order and protocol from the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, announced by the Governor’s office in May 2024.

At Empire Health Pharmacy that means you can walk in, complete a short confidential health questionnaire, have your blood pressure taken, and leave with your contraception the same visit.

  • What we can furnish: the pill, the patch, the ring and the shot — self-administered hormonal contraceptives
  • Who it is for: patients of any age, under the state protocol
  • What is involved: a self-screening questionnaire and a blood-pressure check, reviewed by the pharmacist
  • Insurance: most plans cover it, including NJ FamilyCare — we will run it for you
  • Privacy: the consultation happens in a private area, not at the counter

Some health histories fall outside what a pharmacist may furnish — in that case we will tell you plainly and refer you to a prescriber rather than sell you something unsuitable. Emergency contraception is also available over the counter.

What to bring

  • Photo ID
  • Your insurance card
  • A rough idea of your medical history and any current medications
  • Your most recent blood pressure, if you know it
Roughly 15 minutes. Most visits are done inside a quarter of an hour, start to finish.
●  العربية · Español · English

A pharmacist who speaks your language.

Medication counselling only works if it actually lands. Getting dose timing, side effects and interactions explained in a second language, by someone translating on the fly, is how mistakes happen — and it is the norm at most counters in Hudson County.

العربية

Arabic-speaking pharmacist counselling — medication reviews, insurance questions and vaccine consultations, in Arabic. For the Egyptian and wider Arab community around Journal Square, this is not a translation line; it is the pharmacist.

Español

Consultas y asesoramiento farmacéutico en español — recetas, vacunas, seguro médico y entrega gratuita el mismo día en todo Jersey City.

English

Plain-English explanations without the jargon — what the medication does, what to watch for, and what to do if you miss a dose. Ask as many questions as you like.

Serving Journal Square, The Heights, Downtown, Greenville, Bergen-Lafayette and the wider county — see our Jersey City neighbourhood wellness guide and Journal Square health archive.

●  Clinical services

Care that goes past the counter.

Dispensing is the minimum. These are the services that change whether a treatment actually works — and they are the ones a pharmacist with time can do better than anyone else in the chain of care.

Non-sterile compounding

When the commercial product does not fit the patient, we make one that does — prepared to prescription in-house rather than ordered in and hoped for.

  • Paediatric flavouring and liquid conversions — the difference between a child taking a medicine and fighting it nightly
  • Dermatology preparations — custom strengths, bases and combinations
  • Hormone therapy in doses and forms not commercially available
  • Veterinary compounding — pet medications in doses and flavours animals will accept
  • Discontinued or back-ordered formulations recreated to prescription
Compounding is done to a prescriber’s prescription. Call with the script and we will tell you what is possible and what it will cost before you commit.

GLP-1 & weight-management support

Most people who stop a GLP-1 stop because of side effects, injection anxiety or an insurance denial — not because it was not working. That is exactly the gap a pharmacist fills.

  • Injection technique training — in person, with your actual device
  • Side-effect management — nausea, dose escalation timing, what is normal and what is not
  • Insurance and prior-authorisation navigation, including appeals
  • Interaction and dose reviews alongside the rest of your medication
  • Supply planning so a shortage does not interrupt your titration
We do not dispense compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. We support patients on FDA-approved, manufacturer-supplied GLP-1 medication prescribed by their doctor.

Diabetes care hub

Continuous glucose monitoring has changed diabetes management, but only if someone shows you how to read what it is telling you.

  • CGM setup and training — FreeStyle Libre, Dexcom and Stelo
  • A1c and blood-pressure checks in the pharmacy
  • Diabetic supplies — meters, strips, lancets, footcare
  • Medication reviews for insulin and oral regimens
  • Medicare plan comparison so your supplies and insulin are actually covered
Pairs with our Medicare plan reviews. Guidance and standards from the American Diabetes Association.

Point-of-care testing

Rapid CLIA-waived testing in the pharmacy, so you know what you are dealing with the same day rather than after a two-day wait for an appointment.

  • Rapid influenza, strep and COVID-19 testing
  • Results in minutes, explained by a pharmacist
  • Treatment under New Jersey protocol where a pharmacist’s scope allows it
  • Direct referral to a prescriber or urgent care when it does not
  • Blood pressure checks any time, free
What a New Jersey pharmacist may treat directly is set by state scope of practice and changes over time. We will always tell you which applies to your situation.

Community services

The services that are not profitable and matter anyway. No prescription and no appointment needed for any of these.

  • Naloxone — available without a prescription to anyone at risk or anyone in a position to help, under New Jersey’s standing order
  • Sharps disposal — safe container exchange for insulin, GLP-1 and other injectable users
  • Drug take-back — safe disposal of unused and expired medication, so it does not sit in a cabinet or go into the water supply. Find other FDA take-back locations if we are closed
  • Blood-pressure checks and medication questions, free, any time we are open
  • Insurance and NJ FamilyCare help — we will make the calls with you

For facilities & employers

A pharmacy partner for the whole building.

Independent pharmacies serve facilities better than chains because the account is not a rounding error — it is the business. We run the same blister-pack and med-sync systems for group homes, assisted living and adult day programmes that we run for households, with a named pharmacist you can actually reach.

Facility servicing

Assisted living, group homes and adult daycare — multi-dose blister packing, cycle fills, eMAR support, on-call pharmacist access and in-service staff training.

Workplace flu clinics

On-site seasonal immunization for Jersey City offices, schools and community organisations. We bring the pharmacists, the vaccine and the paperwork; you provide a room and an hour.

340B contract pharmacy

Contract pharmacy partnerships with local FQHCs and covered entities under the HRSA 340B programme — keeping patients’ prescriptions in the neighbourhood.

●  FAQ

Service questions.

Answers to what people ask most about our services. Still unsure? Call (201) 266-0901 or send us a note.

Yes. Multi-dose blister packing is one of our flagship services. We synchronise every prescription to a single monthly fill date, a pharmacist reviews the full list, and your medication arrives in sealed cards sorted by day and time of day — delivered free, same day. It is designed for anyone taking several medications and for caregivers managing a parent’s regimen.

Yes. Since 2024, New Jersey pharmacists have been authorised under a statewide standing order and protocol to prescribe and dispense self-administered hormonal contraception — the pill, patch, ring and shot — without a doctor’s appointment. It involves a short confidential questionnaire and a blood-pressure check. If your health history falls outside what a pharmacist may furnish, we will refer you to a prescriber.

We offer destination-based travel health consultations and travel immunizations. Because some vaccines are given as a multi-dose series, call us four to six weeks before you fly where possible. Check your destination’s requirements on CDC Travelers’ Health first, then call (201) 266-0901 and we will plan the timing with you.

Yes — free, same day, with no minimum order, anywhere in Jersey City and nearby Hudson County towns including Journal Square, The Heights, Downtown, Hoboken, Union City and Bayonne. There is no subscription and no delivery fee. Call us to confirm today’s cut-off time for your address.

We provide non-sterile compounding to a prescriber’s prescription — paediatric flavouring and liquid conversions, dermatology preparations, hormone therapy in non-commercial doses, and veterinary compounding for pets. Call with the prescription and we will confirm what is possible and what it will cost before you commit.

We run a support programme for patients prescribed FDA-approved GLP-1 medication: injection training, side-effect and dose-escalation management, interaction review and insurance or prior-authorisation help including appeals. We do not dispense compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide — we support patients on manufacturer-supplied medication prescribed by their doctor.

We accept all major plans, including Medicare Part D, NJ FamilyCare and Medicaid, Horizon BCBS NJ, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Express Scripts, CVS Caremark and OptumRx. We also run coupons and generic alternatives before you pay. Call us to confirm your specific plan.
